• Day 1: Luang Prabang (L, D/Cycling 20 km)
    – Meet your guide in the morning and get fitted for a quality mountain bike for our venture of Cycling Laos!
    – Ride a short distance to the Mekong River and board a ferry to cross it.
    – Explore the opposite side of the Mekong River, where you’ll meet villagers, see animals roaming, and try local snacks.
    – Ride a looping circuit of about 20km (3 hours) on medium-difficulty dirt roads with some hills. There is plenty of shade along the way, and you’ll feel like you’re miles away from Luang Prabang with the absence of other tourists and traffic.
    – Look back at Luang Prabang from the river. Ride on gravel roads passing rice fields and enjoy amazing views.
    – Stop in a village to try local snacks and observe village life.
    – Continue on single tracks passing farmlands and animals. Ensure your camera is charged for all the stunning photos you’ll take.
    – Stop in another village for cold drinks and to watch the locals go about their business.
    – Hit the tarmac for a short while to the ferry. Have lunch in a local restaurant near the ferry landing.
    – In the evening, discuss the ride ahead over dinner at a great local vocational restaurant. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

  • Day 2: Luang Prabang – Mount Phousi, Almsgiving, Pak Ou Caves (B,L/Cycling 65km)
    – Wake up early to witness the serene procession of orange-clad novices and monks collecting donations from the local community during the almsgiving ceremony.
    – Take a short hike to the top of Mount Phousi to enjoy the early morning views of the town.
    – Ride north of the city to Pak Ou and the famous Buddha Caves, a key attraction in the area that is still actively worshipped and used.
    – Enjoy a local-style lunch on the beach at Pha An, and have a swim in the Nam Ou River before cycling back to Luang Prabang.

  • Day 3: Kuang Si Waterfalls (B, L/Trek 8km & Cycle 27km)
    – Start with a short transfer to the village of Long Lao, a thriving Hmong community of around 80 families.
    – Hike an 8km trail that finishes at the top of Kuang Si Falls, where you can enjoy lunch and a swim in the crystal-clear waters.
    – On the way back, stop at the Laos Water Buffalo Dairy for a tour of this unique community project that educates locals in animal husbandry and welfare, and produces amazing ice cream.

  • Day 4: Luang Prabang to Kasi (B, L, D/Cycling 65km)
    – Take a 2-hour transfer by minivan to Kiu Kacham, at an altitude of 1350 meters.
    – Cycle between 1000 and 1400 meters to Phou Khoun, then enjoy a long descent with great views, bringing you to the valley of Kasi.
    – Overnight in Vang Vieng.

  • Day 5: Kasi – Vang Vieng (B, L/Cycling 48km)
    – Cycle a shorter distance on gently rolling hills to Vang Vieng, reaching the town in time for lunch.
    – In the afternoon, you can choose to visit the Tham Xang, set among the dramatic scenery on the banks of the Nam Song River.
    – Relax with a Lao beer and watch the sunset over the mountains you have just crossed.

  • Day 6: Vang Vieng (B, L/Cycle 35km & Trek 7km)
    – Take a vigorous and steep trek up Big Pha Ngern, which offers spectacular views across the Song Valley. The trek takes around 2.5-3 hours.
    – In the afternoon, you can venture to Blue Lagoon 3 for a swim.
    – Overnight in Vang Vieng.

  • Day 7: Vang Vieng Tubing and Caving (B,L/No Cycling)
    – Enjoy various adventure activities that Vang Vieng has to offer, starting with a float through a water cave in an inner tube.
    – Try the ziplines if you’re feeling brave.
    – Finish the day with a leisurely kayak on the Nam Song River.
    – Overnight in Vang Vieng.

  • Day 8: Vang Vieng to Nam Ngum Lakeside (B, L/Cycling 43km)
    – After breakfast, cycle to the ‘sea of Laos’: the 250 square kilometers of artificial Lake Nam Ngum.
    – Take a 2-hour boat ride to your hotel, where you can relax poolside and enjoy the sunset over the lake.
    – Overnight in Ban Kuene District.

  • Day 9: Nam Ngum to Vientiane (B, L, Dinner/Cycling 50 km)
    – Cycle to the Laos Conservation Trust to learn about their mission to protect the endangered species of Southeast Asia.
    – Cycle through paddy fields with fine views in the Phou Khao Khouay mountain range before entering the capital city of Laos: Vientiane.
    – Ride through the suburbs on your way to the center of this bustling, historical city situated along the bank of the Mekong.
    – Enjoy a final Sindat meal on the banks of the Mekong to finish the trip with local flavor. Your FAREWELL DINNER will be a local-style BBQ on the banks of the Mekong.
    – Overnight in Vientiane.

  • Day 10: Vientiane Departure (B/No Cycling)
    – Enjoy free time to explore Vientiane and its many temples, pagodas, markets, and antique hamlets.
    – If you’d like to extend your stay with more activities or riding, the crew will help make arrangements to prolong your cycling Laos adventures.
